A number of committees make up the larger body of IEIC.  Each Committee is listed below with their respective contact person, meeting times, goals and tasks:

 

Autism

Goal To further the First Signs program to local health providers, child care providers and others who have contact with young children

Early Childhood Mental Health

Goal To address, support and identify children's mental health needs and services for children ages birth to five
Tasks Serve as a resource and support to programs that address the mental health needs of young children. Explore existing resources/programs to improve services for young children. Identify linkages with other committees related to children's mental health. Publish Mental Health Resource Guide for Young Children and Common Behavior Concerns booklet 

 


Family Resource

Meeting Schedule 2nd Monday; 6-8 p.m. at the Blaine Human Services Center
Goal A family-driven committee of Anoka Area IEIC that provides information, resources and a network of support for families whose children, ages birth to kindergarten, have special needs
Tasks Determined by focus groups or needs assessments of the parents.  Past examples include organizing fun activities for families and parents, providing speakers and training opportunities, sponsoring Sibshops for older siblings of children with special needs and publishing a newsletter.

Meeting Schedule Determined as needed, typically every other month; location to be determined.
Goal To provide training opportunities for parents and providers related to Early Childhood issues and activities.
Tasks Support and coordinate training activities with other committees and collaborative agencies.  Respond to the stated needs and on-going changes of IEIC and member agencies to provide timely information and training.

Goal To increase active membership in IEIC and its committees. The focus is on increasing parent membership.
Tasks Develop a member's handbook.   Develop a plan for recruiting new members.   Develop ongoing orientation/mentoring for new members

 


Outreach

Goal To develop and implement public awareness systems designed to inform families of available programs and services.
